the one with the brooding

#11
Photobucket
I took this shot while setting up my tripod and getting my gear ready for tomorrow. I am taking a photo of my co-workers for a newsletter that we will be sending to clients. You would think by the look on his face that he is working on some big deal for work...but alas, just FANTASY FOOTBALL SCORES. It almost looks like the sports players who find it necessary to put on their mean face while posing for their headshot for the team roster.

the one where we tried

I had this vision the other day of the what the wild grass would look like at sunset so tonight Joe humored me and we walked (with camera equipment) down to the greenbelt which separates one side of our neighborhood to the other.

We made it there a little too late because the sun was too low and it wasn't shining on the grass like I had pictured it would. I still got some nice shots though.

the one where i was sad

Today, I spent lunch with my favorite sister-in-law and my angel babies! I was so thrilled to be able to spend some time with them that I forgot my camera in Austin. It was bittersweet that I left my camera at home. Bitter because they seem to change so much between visits and I wanted to get the most current picture of them that I could to take with me but sweet because I was able to "experience" every moment with them and treasure the short time we had instead of being just a body with a camera for a face.

I am always sad to leave them and it never gets any easier, especially now that Presleigh is aware of what saying "goodbye"means and she gets really sad and pouts that you are leaving, then it's just heartbreaking.

So this is what you get...a pic that doesn't even hold a "candle" to the would-be photos of my little angels.

the one where we celebrated

This weekend Joseph and I celebrated the anniversary of our first date. He says we shouldn't call it our "anniversary" because our "anniversary" is when we were married but it is worth celebrating and it happens annually so why not! We went to Romeo's on Barton Creek, I had been there for lunch but not for dinner. We had a  great time!
Photobucket
September 20, 1996 we went on our first date. Granted, it was a group date with some of our friends who were also dating and since we were only 16 and didn't have money, we didn't actually have a "date". We went to a friend's house and hung out like high schoolers do and then sat in the grass at the neighborhood church. I can remember to this day how happy and excited I felt that night, something I had never felt before.

12 years later, still feeling the happiness and excitement I did on that first night. I love you hubbo!

#8: The One With the Balls
Photobucket

So this is just what decorates our coffee table at home yet up close and personal. Funny how it's nothing that I would have thought to photograph before but with this 365 exercise comes the challenge of being creative and looking at the world from a different perspective.

austin is my boyfriend

Day #7: The One With the Statue
Photobucket

I took the afternoon off yesterday to spend time with my dear friend Tracy who drove in from SA-town.  We drove out to the Oasis at Lake Travis and enjoyed lunch lakeside.

After we ate, we drove back into town and climbed Mt. Bonnell for some spectacular views of Lake Austin.

We completed our day with happy hour and dinner with Tif at Berry Hill. Last time Tif and I went there, they had a band playing that featured this crazy instrument and we were kind of blown away by how weird (I mean interesting) it was; they were back this time so Tracy got a real "treat". All in all , I hope I gave her a fun and authentic Austin experience.

on the upswing...

No pics today because I'm still sick! I can't even remember the last time I was this sick. I am heavily medicated right now and have been since friday. I pretty sure that I have taken more than the recommended dosage of at least 2 medications over the last three days.

I did manage to wake myself up for breakfast yesterday (Joseph made me oatmeal) and lunch. Hubbo melted my heart when he made me my all-time favorite lunch (mac n cheese) and then served it to me in bed. I couldn't ask for more!

So hopefully, I will be 100% tomorrow (even though I have been saying that for three days now) and I can get back to posting pics.

can't talk

Day #6: Sick
Photobucket

I haven't been feeling great for a couple of days now but today I feel like I got hit by a freight-liner in my chest and I have a frog voice. So this pic sums it up for Thursday!

Day #5: My Little Helper
Photobucket

Pepper just loves to help me work. She is usually wreaking more havoc than helping because she lays on papers that I need and then chews them up when she is feeling sassy! But all in all she is a good companion while I work.

the ducks go marching

Day #4: I Don't Have Bread!
Photobucket

I stopped at the park on my way home from the bank today. I can't believe in the 7 months we have lived here, I have never visited this park especially since I drive by almost every day.

As soon as I pulled up, the ducks were walking up to my door to see if I had bread, which I didn't. Shame on me because then they proceeded to follow me down the hill and around the pond.  See pics above of me at the bottom of the hill shooting up at the line of ducks behind me. Next time, I'll come prepared.

Oops, I already missed a day of my 365 goal but isn't this worth the wait? I will try to make up for it this afternoon but first I have to get in my Sunday afternoon nap!

is pink a fall color?

Day #2: Pink is the New Black
Photobucket

I have been waiting for this all summer and just when I had almost given up, they showed up...petals in bright shades of pink. Just on the tips and not really your typical fall color but beautiful all the same.

365

Thanks to an idea from Photojojo, I am taking on a new challenge of shooting 1 photo a day for 365 days. I am not promising much, more of a self motivating/learning experience. This exercise promises to hone my skills but also hopefully to entertain you with my randomness in the process...

Day #1: Small Town America

Photobucket
I actually took this shot yesterday but I am cheating a little by posting it today. I went to visit my sweet grandmother in Boerne. If you haven't visited this town, please run there today. My roots run deep in this part of Texas as my ancestors were some of the first settlers in Kendall County. My mom and dad were raised here and my grandmother and other aunts and uncles still live in the area. It is also the town where Joseph and I were married. Anytime I visit, it just feels like home to me.

The trip yesterday was especially memorable for me. What started out as an errand for my dad turned into a meaningful visit with my grandmother who I had not seen in months. Sometimes I can't believe how neglectful I can be of the most important people in my life. We get caught up in the day to day and take for granted what we have. From a grandmother who practically raised me (when it was my "dad's turn") to someone who almost feels like a stranger at times only because of my lack of effort to see her. Why does something so easy yet so important take a back seat? I'm still under construction and the paint is still wet.

september=fall

OMG! I can't believe it's already September. I can't wait for the fall, my favorite season. I am one of those people who longs for hot days when it's cold and cold days when it's hot.

We kicked off our "last weekend of the summer" (technically) by the boys celebrating opening day of college football (R has declared it a national holiday). T and I took a trip to San Marcos to buy her girls some shoes at the outlets. Later Saturday evening we had dinner with R&T at there place. The boys watched football (we are now officially football widows) and T and I played cards.

On Sunday, Joseph and I went to lake all day... Since Lake Travis is so low right now, there is an island that has popped up and the only way to get to it is by boat. So, we went out on our friend's boat and parked ourselves on the beach with our chairs, umbrellas and coolers. We stayed until dark and then packed it up and headed back.

Today, we were bums except Joseph had a conference call for work (it's not Labor Day in Brazil) and I went to the mall and tried to catch some Labor Day deals which I was fairly successful at.

Sorry no pics, I didn't want to lug my camera to the beach yesterday.
